Mahunga !!

I wanted a cute little hat to match the little Milo Vest I made recently and so I thought a Mahunga was in order. This hat is such a quick hat to make and always looks so lovely. This is made in the gorgeous Olive/Pine green DK yarn from Ewe Give Me the Knits.

I made it in the size larger than he should wear because he HATES hats on his head and this is the only way he will wear one.

I’m back

I am sorry I have been absent of late, Life became so busy so very fast ! It’s a whirlwind of new baby needs. Nappy changes, breastfeedings, baths and rocking to sleep. And in this busy house of many you can imagine how overwhelming it all can be. My depression kicked in strongly after baby Ali’s delivery and it was such a hard battle to get myself back to the almost happy place I was in beforehand but i’m finally back on track.

I did not pick up the knitting needles in a very long time. I have now, and I feel newly invigorated by it. I have bought some GORGEOUS new yarn from some wonderful ladies and cannot wait to get myself into some new projects.

I have also made myself determined to learn to crochet also. This is proving to be quite challenging for me but I will persist.

Here are some of my knits on my gorgeous new squishy. He was born over 4kgs so sadly many things do not fit him. I’m sure I will find a new home for them so all is not lost 🙂

SO CUTE !!! Mahunga from ravelry.com

I’m almost positive I should have just enough yarn left from my Hungry Little Caterpillar wool to knit this. I’m going to give it a go. Otherwise I will use the rim in one colour and the main part of the hat in the caterpillar colourway.

Here we go …

And FINISHED with wool left over hahaha I am glad I made this. I had a little help from the designer Kelly Brooker on one of my new favourite wool pages Forest Hill Hand Dyed Yarn

Knitting away in the middle of the night in this photo but I like progress shots so i’ll put it on here

I’m very pleased with this hat, the pattern gives you a few different ways to finish your project so you can personalise it to the lucky receiver you are knitting for.

Here’s my hat 🙂
