I WON YARN !!! wooohoooo Toomuc Valley Yarns Prize =D

Today I was blown away by winning some gorgeous yarn from one of my very favourite stores Toomuc Valley Yarns.

You can see what delights she sells in her store here http://toomucvalleyyarns.com/

I won FOUR SKEINS !! can you believe !! that’s just BEYOND generous :O  I’m still so very surprised and omg excited hahahaha

I chose these ones 😛

This one is Just a Wish Away. It’s a gorgeously divine mix of NZ Kid Mohair Blend. 85% Kid Mohair and 15% Merino and it’s 3PLY !! I’ve never felt a 3 ply before and I can’t wait. I’ve got just the most perfect project in mind. Though I’m worried my big clumsy man hands won’t be able to use it hehe it is 100g and about 530m. WOW that’s LONG !

This one is called Mum’s Apple Pie! YUM YUM !! I can see a gorgeous little cardi for my little Ali with this delicious skein. It is a DK weight yarn and 100g of New Zealand MW wool.

This delightful skein which i’m sure is going to make me SWOON with pleasure with it’s softness is called Peachy Keen. Now…. I’m being VERY selfish with this one. I have a friend that has a sweet little baby named Sabrina that would look so gorgeous in this but then it might make myself a beautiful little thing for ME ME ME …. we’ll see 😉 it is 100g’s of omg 50% Bamboo and 50% wool !! imagine the smooshyness ❤ *sigh*

My final skein is Cool Caribbean. This one DOES have Sabrina’s name on it. Her mama doesn’t like the pinky girly traditional colours that I’d LOVE LOVE to knit for her so I think this is a very nice compromise. I think it’ll make a wonderful in three’s cardi for her 😉 it’s a worsted weight wool so it’s just perfect AND I have the most delightful little buttons to match !!

Needless to say, tonight was a GREAT NIGHT !! I’m so thrilled and still grinning with happiness

Thank you so much Nicole, I’ll show you the photo’s when I’ve made the goodies.

A quick update

I’m sorry for the silence on the blog lately, there has been SO much happening around the house that honestly I haven’t had a chance to even remember to write let along get anything made.

I did get this gorgeous little Tane knitted for Ali though, knitted up in Pumpkin luxury wool from Bendigo Woollen Mills. This is one of my favourite little short sleeved jumpers to make. Perfect for layering when the weather starts to cool

I have also cast on and had to frog a Western Hills Blanket a few times… The first time because the kids messed up my counting, the second because I accidentally pulled the needle out of the work and the third because I was using the DK instructions for my Worsted yarn ARGHHHH

Try number 4 will be attempted today if I can get a chance!

I’m using these gorgeous mini skeins from Candy Apple Lane to make it. I have 2 sets of 7 approximately 20g skeins here to start with and another 4 on order from her. If that’s not enough i’ll get more made 😛 They’re such delightfully bright and cheerful colours so it’ll be worth the investment. I’m going to make it in the cot blanket/throw size.

Ive made some progress on Mister Elias’s Charlie vest, though it’s slow going because I rarely think to knit it. And my sky blanket has been put onto the back burner for some time ( I don’t know why )

Does anyone else find they swing back and forth through projects like I do ?

Well…… I’ll TRY not to cast anything else on for a while…

Unless it’s a scarf……. hehe

A vest for my boy

A while ago a knitting buddy had a de-stash and I picked up this lovely bundle of Mosaic Moon worsted yarn at a bargain price. I thought I had written about it but I didn’t. *shock* I found it today and I am going to make my son Elias a Charlie vest.

This is my lovely wool, such pretty colours !!

For my big boy

I’ve been wanting to buy some yummy yarn to make a winter jumper for one of my bigger boys for next year and have honestly been a bit hesitant to spend so much money on it.

These beautiful skeins were a de-stash from a lady on Facebook and I adore the colours so I bought them. Thankfully I sold two lockets from my store on the weekend so the money wasn’t a problem hehe YAY  Only $20 per skein! bargain.

Beautiful Colours for a winter wooly !!

Delicious new yarn buys !!

I’ve mentioned Toomuc Valley Yarns before in this post HERE when I bought some delicious Berry Smoothie yarn that I knitted into a cowl for myself.

Well she’s opened a gorgeous little store at Etsy !!  Check it out HERE

Toomuc Valley Yarns had a beautiful stocking last night and I couldn’t resist some gorgeous new yarn ❤ I bought a few skeins for myself and one to knit up a little dress for my friend’s little girl when she’s born! I’m really looking forward to her birth, i’ve got 6 boys so you can imagine how itchy I get wanting to knit for a precious little girl.

Here are my purchases, all in DK

I bought two of these amazingly sunny yellow skeins. I might put them into my Autumn coloured throw somehow, we'll see when I get them ;)

I bought two skeins of this delightful colourway too ! I think a pullover for next winter will come out of this for either Elias or Ishaq. I've got some pretty yarn to match for a trim.

And a single skein of this beautiful colourway for my friend's little girl. I will go and dream over little dress patterns soon!

Can’t wait to show you what I make with these!

Casting on…. A Traditional Throw

I mentioned a while ago that I purchased a custom lot of skeins to make a blanket out of.

My colour inspiration for the custom order. Glorious Autumn !!

My colour inspiration for the custom order. Glorious Autumn !!

I have FINALLY found the blanket i’m going to knit with it.

A Traditional Throw from Ravelry.com. You can see the pattern HERE There have been many different patterns that I have considered but I wanted it to look simple, to be quite elegant and just warm and snuggly. I was tempted to make different mitred squares or different styles of knitted squares and add them together but I thought that it would look fussy. I want the emphasis to be on the WOOL and not on the pattern its self. Does that make sense?

This is a photo from ravelry showing the throw that I plan to make.

I don’t like the stripes though, again I want the emphasis to be on the beautiful yarn and not on anything else so I think i’ll just leave them sections as cream coloured yarn.

I’ll update you as I go…..
